A suggested activity for multiple means of expression:

Elementary students (K-8) working in small groups select a medium in which to present (about 3 min) to their classmates what they have learned. This could be a math concept or at the end of a unit of study in language arts, science or social studies. Classmates in lower grades respond by stating what they liked best about the presentation and upper grades respond with a positive comment for the presenting group and with one constructive criticism if it is appropriate.

Excellent Resource! I am glad to see the chart of guidelines and descriptions because I think that they provide a more focused description of what UDL represents. One thing that I think could be more vividly suggested is that teachers need to determine how each student recognizes, expresses and becomes engaged in an activity. Since CAST already has a student profile/class profile, could it be added or hyperlinked to this document? Finally, I really appreciate the examples for each guidline and will be using these in my future trainings. Donna

Hi Steve,
I agree that this is a big problem and we are researching blog hosting services to see if we can figure this out. I've also contacted James Farmer about this issue and will be sure to share what I may learn from him, their organization. Do you have suggestions that might help us?
I look forward to hearing back from you,
janet

Well, I have not had a chance to digest the guidelines yet, but my first suggestion is when selecting a blog hosting service, look for one that is accessible...specifically one that does not use a graphical-only CAPTCHA (the anti-spam script). This blog won't allow someone who cannot see (e.g., using a screen reader) to post a comment. Here's a link for more information on this topic: http://www.afb.org/Section.asp?SectionID=57&TopicID=167&DocumentID=3153

Once I have a chance to read the guidelines, I'll see if I have something else useful to add.

Hi Linnie,
Thank you for your suggestions. If you look at the Table of Contents, I added instructions at the top to hopefully make it more user-friendly. Does that help? Do you think we should have a link to the downloadable word version on each page of the Guidelines?

Consider making the Word download version more accessible. Link the Table of Contents and space them out.
